SETAC Engineering Consultancy is a leading multidisciplinary engineering firm delivering trusted, high-quality infrastructure solutions across East and Central Africa. With over two decades of continuous operation, SETAC has built an unmatched regional reputation as the engineering partner of choice for United Nations agencies, international NGOs, governments, and development finance institutions.

We begin every engagement with a thorough understanding of the client's objectives, site conditions, and regulatory requirements. Our specialists conduct detailed site visits, data collection, and stakeholder consultations to define the scope and identify risks before any design or fieldwork begins.
Our multidisciplinary design teams develop technically sound, cost-effective, and compliance-ready engineering solutions — from feasibility studies and environmental assessments to full architectural and structural designs, complete with detailed BOQs and tender documentation
We provide rigorous on-site supervision and quality assurance throughout construction, ensuring every project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards — with full documentation, as-built drawings, and handover support.
Expert guidance on every project from registered, experienced professionals who understand East Africa's infrastructure landscape and the standards demanded by our institutional clients.

Our seasoned engineering professionals bring deep industry knowledge and proven methodologies to successfully deliver projects across multiple sectors.
SETAC works primarily with United Nations agencies (UNICEF, UNOPS, FAO, IOM, UNHCR, UNESCO), international NGOs (GIZ, Save the Children, Adam Smith International, SOS Children's Villages), and government ministries in Somalia, South Sudan, and across East Africa. We also work with international engineering firms as a local sub-consultant or consortium partner, and with bilateral donors including USAID and the European Union.
SETAC has physical offices in Somalia (Mogadishu and Hargeisa), Kenya (Nairobi), South Sudan (Juba), and DRC (Kinshasa). We have active project presence in over 10 countries including Rwanda, Uganda, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Burundi, and Tanzania. Our regional footprint and established local networks allow us to mobilise rapidly for new assignments anywhere in East or Central Africa.
SETAC provides eight core engineering disciplines: Roads and Transport Engineering, Water and WASH Services, Buildings and Structural Engineering, Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), Field Studies and Surveys, Feasibility Studies and Engineering Design, Supervision and Project Management, and Flood Risk and Climate Resilience. We provide integrated, end-to-end services across all eight disciplines under a single contract.
Yes. SETAC currently holds active Long-Term Agreements (LTAs) with UNICEF Somalia (2024–2027), UNICEF South Sudan (2022–2025), FAO South Sudan (2025–ongoing), and Save the Children International (2025– ongoing). LTAs represent the highest level of institutional confidence from development organisations, as they are awarded only after rigorous technical and financial evaluation.
SETAC provided excellent civil engineering services. They were highly effective at managing the approval, design, and construction phases. Most importantly, they were outstanding communicators and very responsive throughout the project. The finished result was cost-effective and will serve our needs for years to come. We look forward to working with SETAC again.

We have been associated with SETAC across several projects since 2015. In every engagement, we find them talented, responsive, and thoroughly professional. We wholeheartedly recommend SETAC to any organisation seeking quality engineering work delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner.
